Sound fishy?

People pleasers are too trusting thus making easy targets for narcissists. Because we wouldn’t think of misrepresenting ourselves by lying, having hidden agendas and other nefarious behaviors, it’s unthinkable that others would. But they do.

First encounters are especially dangerous. It’s during the initial meeting when the narc is completely engaging. We’re sucked into this illusion that seems too good to be true. We ignore that gut feeling as it tries reminding us something is fishy. We tell ourselves we deserve this phenomenal person or opportunity that’s stumbled across our paths.

When the reality arrives, ( which it always does) we’re left disappointed, regretful, depressed and sometimes swindled out of money and valuables.

The next time something sounds fishy, don’t take the bait and leave it for the birds.
