Choose Wisely.

January 17, 2024

There are many situations when we don’t get to choose the people who surround us. The workplace, a committee, some social situations, family events, to name a few. A lot of time is spent with people who don’t get us, don’t align with our values, and make us feel invisible.

Sometimes we have little say or control of who is in our presence. That’s why it’s crucial to choose personal relationships and friends who are good for us. Build solid connections with people who make us happy, and are our cheerleaders.

Choose friends wisely. It’s OK to let go of people who drain your energy, have a negative effect on your happiness, mental health and those who don’t align with our core values.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about this. Please shout out in the leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

Such a good reminder of what kind of friends to be surrounded by. I’ve certainly had people in the past that drained me and it made me wonder why I chose to keep them in my life so long.

      Hi Mitch,
Thank you for sharing. It is hard to let a friendship go, even if it is toxic. Sometimes we don’t see a person as they really are. Many people don’t reveal the truth about themselves until we’ve invested time & energy into that relationship.. By the time we realize the toxicity of the friendship it’s hard to cut and run. Which is what we SHOULD DO immediately to protect our mental health. We justify and make excuses for these people until we finally can’t take it anymore. In the end, we finally do get away from them but it’s usually a long difficult process. Now I am very careful who I let into my inner circle and immediately cut ties at the first red flag.
